Special guest this week is Josh Brande.

Joshua Brande (pronounced Brandy) is an American performing songwriter since the early 1970’s. He began his musical life as a drummer and it was in Chicago when he swithched to guitar following behind in the footsteps of John Prine, Steve Goodman and others. His musical influences are many and varied and he doesn’t limit himself to one particullar style or genre. He does however tend to draw upon the more literate, poetic writing styles.

“Songwriting is a mysterious, labourious process. Sometimes, but rarely will one be completed in a short time. For me, they take months, even years to write. Rarely are they songs that write themselves.”

He plays harmonica with his vocals and 6 or 12 string guitars and that puts him in the company of many other acoustic blues and folk performers. Besides the all too obvious comparisons with Dylan and Neil Young. He’s also been said to evoke reflections of Leonard Cohen, Guy Clark, Randy Newman, and others. But the songs Joshua performs are his own. He has refused for many years to do covers. “You don’t need one more guitar and harmonica folkie performing the likes of those guys. Besides, I’ve always had my own thins to say.”

Joshua’s songs require listening. He has a way of saying things, you might have wished to say. He has a way of relating personal experiences which remind you of having the same or similar experiences where you say,”oh yes, I know that one. I’ve been there.”

Fergal Nash
is a songwriter who hails from Kilcornan, Co. Limerick near the beautiful forest park of Curraghchase. Having developed his playing and performing skills in a covers band called Nemesis at his secondary school of Copsewood College Pallaskenry, in the last decade or so he has emerged as a solo artists of renown, gaining plaudits in publications as respected as Hot Press magazine and Radio stations such as Limerick’s Live 95 FM (where he has also performed live). He has also secured support slots with local and national established artists such as Theme Tuned Boy and Jinx Lennon, and is a regular live performer in the Limerick/mid west region. His style is based on catchy guitar driven pop/rock songs along with more stripped back acoustic numbers, influences including the Manic Street Preachers, Teenage Fanclub and Josh Ritter. He tries to say something with his lyrics without being too complicated. He is currently working on his debut album which is due for release later this year. He will be joined in this performance for a few numbers by the brilliant Ennistymon based guitar maestro himself, Englishman Chris Wood.
