SongWriter Sessions @ The Locke Bar
Thursday 22nd April 2010 9.00pm

The SongWriterSessions@TheLockeBar, continues upstairs at The Locke Bar, George's Quay, Limerick 9.00pm April 22nd.

This weeks special guest is singer songwriter Ray Laffan and his band Blind Vision.

Ray Laffan has been playing music since he was a child, he started with Traditional Irish, did a couple of years of classical music training on concert flute.
Started playing Guitar in College and started writing some stuff after that and stopped again when life started getting busy.

Eventually started playing a bit of session music in his local and this grew into a small band.

From there he started writing his own material again and like riding a bike, it seemed to come naturally. The new material was always well received at the 'three songs' nights and also at the 'Limerick Songwriter's' nights in the Locke Bar.

He believed in the strength of the material, he just needed a Drums and Bass player that felt the same way about the material. This happened with very little effort on his part so he decided to go with the flow and form the band 'Blind Vision'

He thought of the name last year while at Oxygen for no particular reason and felt it was a good name for a band.

As Usual all aspiring songwriters are invited to attend and play there songs in front of a live audience. All types of music and singers are welcome, a limited amount of instruments will be available for use on the night.

SongWriter Sessions @ The Locke Bar
Thursday 15th April 2010 9.00pm

The SongWriterSessions@TheLockeBar, continues upstairs at The Locke Bar, George's Quay, Limerick 9.00pm April 15th.

This weeks special guest is singer songwriter Sian Brown.

Siân Brown is a singer/songwriter who is currently living in Cork city. She grew up in the North Cork countryside before moving to Cork city at the age of seventeen. She had a difficult childhood down to her alcoholic father and always used writing as an escape. Her deep love of music and writing came together in her teens when she taught herself guitar and started writing songs with a friend at the time. When she moved to Cork city she was primarily interested in dancing and getting wasted but, after a heavy couple of years, finally ended up giving up everything to save herself and her sanity. Lots of writing followed while in recovery and she finally got up the courage to go to a few open mic's. From there her confidence in performance grew and a place on a Cork music course followed. During the two years at CSN Music, Management and Sound she honed her songwriting skills and wrote much of her forth coming debut eleven track album 'Blue Ruin' which is to be released in summer 2010. She also took to the road, via Bus Eireann, with just her guitar in hand and has now played in many venues all over Ireland. John Creedon of Radio 1 picked up on her song 'Inbetween Dreams' herralding her as 'one to watch' and she also toured with reggae musician Natty Wailer for six months in 2009 singing original cross over reggae songs. If you asked her what kind of music she makes she wouldnt have a clue.
